Spirits of the Wild
There is a lone whinney that brakes across the empty sky like a dagger cutting through silk. The crow calls and greets the gray morning. The whinney was from the lambrums of a lone equine-creature. Its smooth charcoal tinted wrapping glinted against the slight sunlight that managed to shine through the clouds that hung like banners in the sky. The animals turned its mighty visage to the sky, the atmosphere was humid, smelled of rain. Yes, rain was on its way. It whipped his black-hued flyer and scuffed at the grass with a flint. The powerful being rose onto its hind shanks and let out a call, a call to all those who thought it challenging, who thought it an intruder, who thought it menacing. A smirk played against its velvet kissers, for maybe it was all of these terrible adjectives strung together. But, of course, you had to be to survive in a place such as this. But, don'tunder estimate the warmness any creature can hold within its soul. It sounded another call, a softer call, at the touched its front pillars back to the geography. This time, it called to one who thought it good,. thought it beautiful, thought it worthy enough to be in their company. Yes, yes it had been alone for so long there had to be someone, anyone out there who could show it the meaning of a herd, a family, the meaning of... Love? Oh, that silly little words. It was such a little word for such a big emotion. It seemed to not do it justice. No, no not all. Suddenly, with an erratic burst of speed, the animal sped off into the morning mist, its well-oiled muscling rippling like little waves under its pelt, it slid to a sudden halt as the promised rain began to fall, spattering its coat with darker flecks. It shook its dial, dreds flying wildly, mingling with the falling rain. Is this what it was meant when that word "wild" was uttered from others' lips?

Amber looked at him and moved her rump to him. She wanted a foal and the only way she could get one is facing her fear. She gave a nodd and planted all four daggers on the ground. She got ready for his weight and then waited for him to mount. She loosed up her banner and then moved it a little to the side. She moved her head forward and took a deep breath relaxing her body. She was pretty excited but she tried to relax her body for him.

Alekai tossed his flame-licked forelock. He could tell by her actions that she was nervous...and yet seemed sort of eager for experiencing this for the first time in her life. He wanted to make this as rememberable for her as possible...their first foal. He mounted her slowly, making sure that he kept most of his weight on his hind shanks, and he entered her realms. He started fast, and tried to keep the pace. He gripped her thin bodice with his muscular pillars, their coats mingling as one.

Amber felt his chest on her back and his pillars on each side of her, closing her orbs she waited calmly. She kept her banner loose and her body relaxed, it was a little tense but mostly relaxed. She opened her orbs and turned her dail around on her side seeing where his dail was. She bobbed her dail softly and snorted. She felt pressure on her sides from him gripping, when he entered she softly closed her orbs again. When he picked up the pace she jerked her rump but kept her daggers planted on the floor. She soon lowered her dail slightly getting use to the speed he was going.

He shook his nape gently as he slowed to a normal pace, and eventually spread his seed carefully and dismounted. He lashed his flame-hued whipcord and reached his velveteen kissers to her cheek to nuzzle it tenderly. He whickered softly and slipped away slowly to give her her space. He cantered towards Delight again, a nicker low in his lambrums. He halted in front of her and trotted towards her. He reached toward her nape and nudged her silver banner gently in greeting. He slipped a glance at Amber and winked at her, signaling he would spend some time with her...whenever she was ready.

Amber was feeling the pressure on her back start to go away, looking over seeing him slide off. She smiled knowing and hoping their foal would be healthy, she was going to take really good care of the foal and also herself while the foal was in her. She felt him give her a tender nuzzle, she moved her maw to him and nuzzled him back. She then watched him gallop over to Delight, she nuzzled her belly and then caught Alekai wink to her. She giggled softly and then wondered back to the cave and grazed.

She lifted her head to Alekai's nicker. She smiled at him and nickered back, even though he was standing right there. She nuzzled the warm flesh on his nape, rubbing her soft velvet kissers over his pelt. She felt a sudden, agonizing pain in her barrel area. It made her knees wobble and her optics roll. She gasped as it only got worse and worse. Then stopped. She knew what this was. This was her foal coming, hers and Alekai's foal was ready and fighting to get out. Delight said, "I think the foal is coming." Her voice shook.

His optics widened. "You need to go to Foaling Valley." He stated. "Do you want me to come with you?" He asked. The wind blew his banner and tassle gently as it wafted by.

"I shall go now, you may come now or later." She did not leave just yet. She stood in her place with her branch-thin shanks locked in one place. Of course she was frightened! It was a foal that was coming. What if it didn't go right? What if the little thing died? What if she died?! She gasped as another painful contraction ripped through her. 'Is it supposed to be this way?!', the thought was running through her mind like a thoroughbred. She looked at Alekai only for a second as she waited for the pain to ebb. Then, without another word or expression, she turned and walked away to the Valley. That ususally wasn't like her, to leave so quickly, but she wasn't really herself right now.

Amber noticed that Delight was going off to foal valley, she smiled and then trotted over to her before she left. "You will do just fine." She nickered. Even though she herself has never had a foal that is what alot of mares who had foals themselves told the new mothers to be in her herd when she was younger. So she remembered it all this time. She then stopped and nuzzled her barrel, with her heart pounding in excitment. She walked up to Alekai and nickered,"Go with you, you should be there. I'll be fine here."

Amber smiled as she watched him get excited and run to see his first foal being born. She lowered her dail and grazed on the grass where she was at. She could feel the foal growing, it was a werid but yet exciting feeling. She pulled up her dail and nuzzled her belly. She then started walking around getting the baby to move from a spot that was making her quite uncomfortable. Seeing she was the only mare here in the land right now, she kept her harks perked up listening and being aware of everything, since the lead and the lead mare were over at foal valley. She looked up at the sky and then up at the trees that let them have some shade. She smiled and whipped her banner, lowering her dail back down to eat.

Alekai cantered slowly back in, his strong pillars weary from the journey to Foal Valley and back at a canter. He snorted and then slowed to a walk as he approached Amber from behind. He playfully and lightly nipped her rump as he walked to her side. "Did anything happen while I was gone?" He smiled and gently nuzzled her tender cheek with his kissers.

As Amber was grazing the foal was moving around alot and giving her pain in the areas where she felt the kicks. She stopped eatting for a second to figure out why the foal was kicking so hard. She whipped her dail around and touched her belly. She then turned back and started to walk around seeing if that got the foal to calm down. As her mind dealt with the foal she didn't really watch where she was going because her orbs were on her belly.
She tripped over a branch and stumbled against the grass. She quickly but slowly got up and grew worried that she might have hurt the foal. She moved her maw to her belly checking for the foal. She didn't feel anything so she moved her maw around some more to see if maybe he was in a different position. She was getting nervous but soon enough there was kick just like the last one. She heard a gallop coming from behind her and listened to it slide to a stop. She had to try and get her worried face away and put on a smile. She turned seeing Alekai, She nuzzled his cheek and sighed. She didn't say anything for a minute. She didn't want to lie and say nothing happened so she had to tell him the truth.
"The foal was kicking alot and so I was walking around to get him to calm down. I was paying attention to my belly instead of where I was walking and umm....Well, I tripped over a branch and stumbled onto the grass. But when I got up I checked to make sure the foal was ok, I felt him kick hard. So he is ok." She nickered. She put her maw against his nose softly and then moved it onto his back.

His deep brown orbs slowly grew dim as she went on about how she had fallen while not paying attention. At first he felt sure that she was going to say that she felt no more movement from the growing foal, but to his delight she had said that it was fine. He sighed greatfully and rested his chin on her shoulder as his nape brushed against hers. "You have to be more careful - you are carrying your first foal." He wasn't mad, just a bit shaken. He sighed, trying to relax and get the worry out of his system. He lightly groomed her flame-hued shoulder and mane, his own glazed over in the mid-day sun.

She watched how worried he got when she told him the story. As she felt his maw against her shoulder and his fur from his nape against her own nape and hearing what he was telling her about her first foal and how she needs to be more carefull. She lowered her harks and nickered,"I know I have to be more carefull. I wasn't trying to hurt the foal, all I was doing was trying to get him to calm down and get comfortable." She nickered. She lowered her dail just a tad and nickered,"See feel, the foal is still moving." She added. She moved her body up so Alekai's nose was by her belly.
When she thought back on how Alekai spoke to her about being carefull, his tone knowing he was only worried sounded and in her body felt like she was a young foal who ran into a dark forest getting lost and her father coming to save her soon after saying those words minus the carrying your first foal. She looked at him and nickered calmly with a touch of sadness. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to worry you and I didn't mean to harm the foal." After she spoke she looked away from him and nuzzled her barrel. She was still young and was still getting use to this part in life. She lowered her self softly onto the meadowy grass tucking her pillars in her side and not looking up at him just looking at her barrel that had the foal. She pushed her maw against her barrel where she could feel the foal, She whispered,"I'm sorry." to her barrel and kept her maw there, a tear came down her cheek cause she was still scared, she knew one more slip could damage the foal or even kill it and she did not want that. She waited to long for this day to come.
